White Sky... Blue sky??

Today I learned...
***

I kinda not satisfied with my photo capturing recently.. Where I found out the sky seems to be all in 'white' even tho it actually blue.. ^_^

What I meant was like this.. I took this photo using auto.. Sadly the sky seems like to be all white.. (Not like my small sony camera.. it will ge me a beautiful blue sky with the auto mode)

In my DSC-Hx1 case.. I have to use manual to have my blue sky back ;-p... Yeah using DSC-HX1 need to play lots of manual.. No wonder people said 'If you planned to go for DSLR in future.. using DSC-HX1 is the best 1st step'.. LOL.. It's a Cybershot but function a lil bit like DSLR.. ^_^

Ok.. I set my ISO lower... like 200.. and the aperture to F5.0 and speed higher like 1000.. (For DSC-HX1 camera ya.. ^_^)

3
And result.. I got my blue sky.. but the problem is.. lower images become darker.. *Sigh*

So I guess for that.. only flash can saved the situation... ;-p.. and may be can make more brighter using some photo editing if you want, for this pic I only used Flash.. ^_^..

Mmm.. DSC-HX1 have quite small flash.. and I don't see any socket where we can put extra flashes.. T_T... Is there any posibility that we can use addtional flash to attach with this camera?? (Hope any other Sony DSC-HX-1 user will accidentaly read this post... ;-p)

So far I don't need extra flash but just wondering.. ;-p

As for this 1 was using my small Sony camera (Auto mode)..

1
See it automatically will give me a blue sky and of coz dark images lower.. ~.@

2
So trying using the tiny flash.. ^_^... Ok lah.... ada perubahan... never thought of this before.. ;-p

Advice are welcome!!!! ^_^

hah.. i never left any comments here yet but this post of urs really make me wanna write something.

first, when we r taking some scene of a contrast lighting like ur garden, it is most likely our cam will misjudge the exposure.

here are some tips to minimise the miscalculation of our camera:
- always use matrix metering (in ur case, multi metering). this metering will determine how the exposure calculation were done by the cam processor. multi metering means the cam will calculate the brightness n exposure with multiple points in the frame, where spot metering will only calculates near the focus point it self, hence will give in accurate black n white value.

shutter speed is really depending on the available light and the aperture. if the available light (ambient light) is bright, we'll need a higher shutter speed. theres always a meter in ur viewfinder/lcd giving u the reading of ur shutter speed. for me, i'll always be 1 step lower than the recommended level to bing out the "mood" and more shade to the pic.

as for aperture, since u r taking a landscape sene, so a smaller aperture (big F value) is good since we want our picture to have a higher depth of field (we dont want to blur out the scene).

since its a really bright n sunny day, i would recommend lower iso.. 100 or 125?

if all of the settings still give u an over expose sky, remember, u still can tweak with ur Exposure compensation function!!

many of us keep forgetting that if all of the settings were done but still the cam miscalculate the readings hence an over expose pic, we can tune the EV to be lower, say -0.3, -0.7 or -1.0

for outdoor and portraiture, it is wise for us to shoot with available light, to bring the "mood" inside our pic. flash/speedlight will give the pic "artificial" feel (but of course, if u shoot indoor, available light will not be good, so a flash is a much, but try to bounce te flash instead, dont fire the flash direct to ur subject)

wahh.. panjang lebar sudda sia komen ni....

*we've been bz these few days... dont hv the time to update the Ho Chi Minh documentary.. sabar ekkk
